Dune Bashing Safety & Age Limits

Our age policy

For our desert safari operation, we generally recommend dune bashing for guests aged 3 years and above. Children should have their own suitable seat and be securely restrained throughout the dune drive.

Children under 3, pregnant guests and people for whom the high-movement 4x4 ride is medically unsuitable should skip the dune-bashing portion and ask our team about alternative arrangements.

Important: 3 years is our tour participation policy and recommendation. It is not a statement of a universal UAE legal minimum age.

Who should speak to us first

Dune bashing is popular with families with eligible children, couples, groups, first-time Dubai visitors and adventure travellers who are comfortable with a moving off-road ride.

Speak to us before booking if you have pregnancy, significant back or neck problems, heart conditions, recent surgery, serious mobility limitations or another medical condition that could be aggravated by strong vehicle movement. Guests who experience motion sickness should also tell the booking team and the driver beforehand.

Pregnant guests and people with significant back, heart or mobility conditions should not take part in strenuous dune bashing. We can arrange the camp experience instead.

Riding guide

• Always wear your seat belt throughout the 4x4 dune-bashing section, even during slower parts of the drive.
• Listen to the desert guide. Sand changes with wind, temperature and traffic.
• Keep arms and belongings inside. Secure phones and cameras before entering the dunes.
• Avoid a heavy meal roughly two to three hours before the activity.
• Use the safety gear provided for buggy and quad rides.
• Never attempt stunts. These are controlled adventure experiences.
• Maintain riding distance behind the guide on buggy and quad tours.
• Tell the guide if you are uncomfortable. Speaking up early is always better.

Self-drive rules

• Helmet, goggles and the protective equipment provided must be worn for the whole session.
• Stay within the designated riding area and follow the marshal or guide.
• No alcohol or drugs before or during any self-drive activity.
• Bring valid identification — it may be requested for self-drive activities.
• Damage caused by reckless riding is chargeable.
